Welcome to the Britain Zimbabwe Society

This is the developing word press site for the Britain Zimbabwe Society. The Britain Zimbabwe Society (BZS) was established after Zimbabwe’s Independence in 1980 to share information, promote friendship and facilitate networking between the two countries.

In addition BZS organises a BZS Research Day annually in June, to highlight research by academics on Zimbabwe both in that country and in the Diaspora. A Review with details of newly published books, economic reviews and articles of general interest, is published three times a year. Membership of the organisation provides access to BZS Information which promotes news and debate on the current situation in Zimbabwe and events linked to Zimbabwe. For further details on joining the BZS please consult the information on membership provided elsewhere on this site.

Bart Wolfe – In Memoriam

Bart Wolfe, tragically passed away last week. He will be well remembered for his theatrical performances at the Theatre in the Park in Harare and in particular his portrayal of Diary of Madman; and his work as creative director with Michael Hogg Advertising. In the UK he promoted his poetry widely through gatherings in London  (including the Exiled poets group )and  more widely across the South of England. He even trekked north to Sheffield to participate in the Singing for Change project a few years go. Many of us enjoyed his extensive output of poetry both through the internet and an extensive publication print portfolio he self generated through the Lulu press.

The funeral is tomorrow Saturday 13 August at 11.00a.m. at the East Chapel of the East Croydon crematorium (CR0 3AA if approaching on the Mitcham Road and CR7 6BB for the Thornton Road entrance. Bus numbers 64,109,198,250,264,289 from Croydon or the tram to the Therapia Lane stop. That is about 500 meters away from the Crematorium entrance.
